List of What You Can Do in KIRKLAND
If you’re looking for a place to spend your summer, Kirkland is definitely the place. You can enjoy the beach, go shopping or explore local attractions like The Evergreen State Fair and The Museum of Flight. There are also plenty of things to do in our city during summer, so don’t miss out on some great activities we are listing here!
Waterfront
Waterfront is a great place to go for walks, bike rides, or just enjoy the scenery. There are many restaurants and shops in the area as well as parks that you can visit with your family or friends.
Parks
Kirkland is known for its parks, and they’re great for picnics, playing sports, or just enjoying the outdoors. The city has over two dozen parks with playgrounds, sports fields, and trails.
Farmer’s Market
The Kirkland waterfront is home to a weekly farmer’s market that can make your extra summer special. The market includes local produce, flowers, and crafts. You can also find other vendors selling food and drinks, as well as live music!
Shopping in Downtown
Downtown Kirkland is a great place to shop. There are many unique shops in downtown Kirkland, including:
- Fashion
- Beauty
- Home Decor
There are also plenty of restaurants, cafes, and bars in downtown Kirkland. You can find everything from fine dining to fast food outlets within walking distance of each other. If you’re looking for something more upscale than what’s available at the mall (or even better), then check out some other places nearby.
Hiking Trails
Hiking is a great way to enjoy the surroundings, get some exercise, and see some of the beautiful scenery that Kirkland has to offer. Here are a few of our favorite hiking trails:
- Garibaldi Lake – This easy trail takes about an hour or so if you don’t stop for lunch at one of the many viewpoints along the way. There are also several campsites along this trail if you’re looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing after your hike!
- Mount Rainier National Park – This is one of my personal favorites because it’s located right here in Washington State! If you want something more challenging than just walking around on flat ground (which I definitely recommend), then this would be perfect for you as well!
Marina Park Beach
Marina Park Beach is located at the north end of Kirkland’s waterfront, and it’s open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The beach features picnic areas, playgrounds, and grassy areas for kids to play in. It also has restrooms available for use by both adults and children alike.
The watercraft launch site provides boat rentals, so you can rent one from them if you don’t have one of your own yet!
Events of summer
Summertime is a great time to visit Kirkland. Kirkland has many events during the summer, and there’s always something going on! Here are some of our favorites:
- Downtown Parks & Rec Department hosts the events every June and July, with free activities for kids, such as arts and crafts or obstacle course races (in case you’re feeling competitive). This activity is followed by live music from local bands that perform at pubs throughout downtown, as well as special performances by guest artists like Colin Hay. The park itself also hosts several concerts throughout the summer season! Also, be sure to check out all their upcoming events on Facebook, so you don’t miss out on anything important!
Summertime is a fun time in Kirkland!
Kirkland is a great place to visit during the summer months. Not only is it beautiful and relaxing, but also there are plenty of things to do! Here are some more suggestions:
- You can enjoy the waterfront in Kirkland. The waterfront is home to many parks, events, and restaurants that you should definitely check out if you have time during your visit.
- Try local events on Tuesdays through Saturdays featuring local produce vendors selling their goods or products made by other people. This makes it easy for people who don’t live here year-round because they can buy fresh vegetables while they’re visiting Kirkland from their hometown!
- Other parks include Lynnwood Park, which has a resort-style pool, fitness center, tennis courts, playground, barbecue grills (and possibly more), picnic tables, and restrooms! It’s also just stepping away from going downtown, where there are even more restaurants & bars available nearby, so if all else fails, just go there instead.
Conclusion:
We hope this was helpful in giving you some ideas of what to do when you visit Kirkland. There’s so much to see and do here, and we could easily spend a whole week just exploring! Whether it’s water sports on Lake Washington or hiking through neighborhoods near the lakefront, there are so many options available. If you decide to check out any of these things while visiting Kirkland, we recommend bringing along sunscreen (it gets pretty hot during summer months) as well as an umbrella or rain jacket just in case it starts raining mid-afternoon—or anytime, really.
